Kuboraum

Hand-carved masks dreamed in Berlin’s concrete and forged by Italian artisans.

The Story

Founded in 2012 within the raw, divided energy of Berlin, sculptor Livio Graziottin and anthropologist Sergio Eusebi forged Kuboraum. They anchored their headquarters in a former post office on the border between East and West Berlin. This shell transformed into a creative laboratory where the duo constructs "Eye Couture."

Kuboraum rejects the term "glasses." They create masks. These objects act as a stage for the face, designed to highlight the wearer rather than provide a retreat. Every frame carries the weight of the brand’s logic: "dreamed in Berlin, handmade in Italy." While the expressive heartbeat pulses in the divided sprawl of Berlin, the technical execution occurs in the small ateliers of northeastern Italy.

The laboratory pulse remains untamed. Graziottin and Eusebi execute eyewear through the lens of sculpture rather than traditional design. They treat Mazzucchelli acetate and pure titanium like raw stone. They hammer textures into surfaces, sear edges with fire, and carve deep into the material to leave intentional scars. These marks tell the physical truth of the object’s creation. The aesthetic draws direct lines from Brutalist concrete and the ritualistic masks of global tribes. Every bevel strikes a deliberate note, and every razor-sharp edge meets a glistening, hand-polished finish.

Transformation drives every piece. A Kuboraum mask functions as a solution to the anxiety of self-representation, allowing the wearer to play with multiple, liquid identities. The brand disrupts stagnant cultures and fleeting trends. Instead, they offer a plural alternative where the mask provides presence, identity, and confidence. It functions as a protective yet accentuating object that forges a more potent version of the self. This process shuns mass production in favour of identity carved into material. Every piece moves through dozens of finishing stages—slow tumbling, hand sanding, and multi-step polishing in Italian ateliers—before the hinges set. It fuses ancient craftsmanship with futuristic engineering. The result is wearable art that possesses a distinct, raw soul and a monumental presence.

The P-Series — engineering the tubular temple

The P-Series fuses avant-garde geometry with industrial luxury through a startling juxtaposition of materials. These frames pair chunky Italian acetate with Kuboraum’s signature bicoloured tubular temples. The P50 rimless model applies this DNA to an exposed architecture, featuring a beautifully designed clasp system. This detail, where Baroque aesthetics meet industrial intention, physically joins the side to the lens with absolute precision. The tubular form feels solid in the hand, offering a cool metallic heft and a weight that anchors the frame. When paired with high-tech 1.67 freeform lenses and Dinamica technology, the P50 provides a performance that rejects the flimsy nature of traditional minimalist eyewear.

Signature Style

The Kuboraum wearer belongs to a universe where difference warrants celebration. Notable fans who wear these masks include cultural icons like Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga, David Lynch, and Erykah Badu. These pieces resonate with those who value a strong, sculptural presence over traditional fashion.

Specific models have achieved flagship status within the collection. The K5 remains a favourite of Oprah Winfrey, featuring a bold browline and a unique raised bridge. For those seeking an avant-garde take on classic shapes, the Y3—worn by Lady Gaga—offers an exaggerated, sculpted cat-eye silhouette. The N3 hexagonal optical provides a sharp, geometric alternative for those seeking architectural precision.

The overarching aesthetic is sculptural, architectural, and intentionally over-scaled. Kuboraum utilises geometric extremes, from perfect circles to hard hexagons, to frame the face. The result is a bold, refined look where every colour and texture is meaningful. These frames are designed to be noticed, serving as a centre-piece of personal identity rather than a subtle accessory.
